SDAYC Luff-In #3 @ MBYC

MBYC hosted the third and last of the 2018 SDAYC Luff-In Series. There were so many highlights, it's hard to know where to begin! Saturday was the "Singlehanded" race day with Lasers and Sabot A/B/C1 out in the bay, while Sabot C2/C3 raced in Chicken Cove. Our Tower Crew lead by Hugh Vanderspek with Johnny Miller and Julie Colbourne, did a terrific job of keeping the kiddos close to the line and encourage them right through the finish. We are especially proud of our newest Team MBYC members Santi, Jett and Evan who sailed their very first regatta! Taking home trophies from our Chicken Cove sailors were Paige, 3rd in C2 and Luke 2nd in C3. Great job! Outside on the big course, with RC lead by

Team MBYC qualifies TWO teams for the Snipe World Championships!!

32 Snipes representing 9 different countries raced for three days 2.5 miles off Point Loma in the North American Championships which were also qualifiers for the Snipe Worlds and the Pan Am Games. Team MBYC had both juniors and coaches racing in this top level competition. Coaches out there were Doug, Cragan and Aine, while Juniors out there were Marianna, Diego, Cole, Oakley and Ben. Doug and Cragan finished 3rd and qualified for the Snipe Worlds while maybe even more impressively, Diego and Marianna finished 6th overall and qualified for the Junior Worlds! We love seeing our junior sailors out competing in different boats when they can. This not only enhances their overall race skills, but

2018 SDYC Jr. Invitational

Team MBYC showed up to the JR Invitational 18 sailors strong with kids on both the inside La Playa course and the course outside in San Diego Bay. Saturday saw steady breeze around 10 knots with building current more of a factor on the outside course. Sunday started with more breeze early but then developed into some more erratic conditions with Tropical Storm Rosa looming. Thank you to all our parents who towed trailers and supported the team on land. None of this is possible without you. In the A Fleet, Shane threw down early starting the racing with a 1, 2! He held on all weekend and finished an impressive 3rd place overall. He proved he is a new force to be reckoned with at the top end o
