Summer Gold Cup

Newport Harbor Yacht Club hosted this year’s Summer Gold Cup on the weekend of July 9th, with over 130+ Sabots in attendance and good wind conditions, the competitors had a great weekend of racing. Team MBYC was represented by 6 sailors, all who found success throughout the weekend one way or another.

In the Sabot C3 fleet Jack Colyer (16th) and Ben Conroy (6th) had some amazing starts and great boatspeed, especially in the underpowered areas of the course. Coming on strong on Saturday and even winning a race on Sunday was Shane Tillson, placing 7th overall in the C2 fleet. Sean Ross put forth a great effort, placing 28th in the C1 fleet.

With a couple of top 5 finishes on Saturday, Marcus Hall had good boat speed and placed 14th in the B fleet. Diego Escobar unfortunately could only sail Saturday, and with consistency in his finishing positions placed 17th overall in the A division.

The great job and amazing effort put in by MBYC sailors over the weekend was amazing and the results show it!
