MBYC Private Coaching Program 

The MBYC Junior Program is excited to offer private lessons for Junior Sailors with our dedicated and experienced instructors! These coaching opportunities are open to sailors of all levels - from first‑time beginners to advanced racers and everyone in between.

Rates:

• $65/hour, two‑hour minimum

• Charged to MBYC Member Accounts

• Charter Fees: $10 per lesson for MBYC‑owned boats

Schedule a Lesson

Please complete the form to schedule a private lesson with an MBYC Coach.

Steps to Register

1. Fill out your sailor’s information so we can match them with the right coach and equipment.

2. Indicate your coach preferences:

   • You may list coaches in order of preference, and they will be offered the hours based on availability.

   • If you do not have a preference, please select “No Preference.”

3. Provide your preferred dates and times.

   • Please try to schedule lessons at least one week in advance.

   • For short‑notice requests, please email the Junior Program at juniors@mbyc.org to check availability.

4. You will receive an email copy of your completed form.
   Once a coach is assigned for your preferred hours, MBYC staff will reach out to confirm the lesson.

Cancellation Policy

There are no refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours of a scheduled private lesson.

Blackout Dates

Private lessons may be unavailable during:

• Major regattas

• Club holidays

• High‑demand program periods

• Times that overlap with regularly scheduled Junior Program classes

Please plan ahead when possible.

For Coaches

Coaches who independently arrange or schedule a private lesson at MBYC must complete and submit this form to request approval for those lessons.

Once submitted, your form will be sent to the Junior Sailing Director and Head Coach for review.

​

Please submit your request at least 48 hours prior to the lesson so MBYC can coordinate equipment, staffing, and scheduling needs.

While MBYC will make every effort to support these coaching opportunities, requests may be declined due to:

• Conflicts with scheduled events or practices

• Equipment limitations

• Weather conditions

• Short‑notice scheduling

• Other considerations determined by program management
