Fall Gold Cup

On the weekend of September 10-11 Team MBYC attended this year’s Fall Gold Cup Regatta at Newport Harbor Yacht Club. With great breeze and sunny skies, the conditions could not have been better. MBYC sailors sailed well across the board and found success!

In the C1 fleet Cole Tillson sailed fast, earning 3 consecutive bullets and earning 1st place overall. Cole will be moving up to B fleet due to his efforts! Marleigh Henehan used good tactics and came on strong with top 10 finishes on Saturday, placing 15th overall.

Taking the lead in the C2 fleet was Shane Tillson, who like his brother also had an outstanding weekend, sailing fast and moving up to the next fleet! Nikita Peugh also had a good weekend, with a couple top 10 finishes on Sunday placed 20th. Nick Shand sailed fast and found success on Saturday, and placed 30th overall.

Rowan Henehan smashed C3 fleet, with 3 bullets and all top 10 finishes earned 2nd place overall! Right behind was Jack Colyer in 5th, sailing fast and consistent with all top 3 finishes on Sunday. Allie Shand also sailed consistently, with good boatspeed and a great attitude placed 10th overall. In her first travel regatta, Paige Tillson navigated the crowded conditions and sailed fast and balanced to a 14th place finish.

Great effort put forth by all of the competitors and a big thanks to the parents for helping out!
