C420 Perry Series #4/4 @the SDYC in the Coronado Rodes
With our C420 series coming to a close with this event we saw some of our fiercest competition this year has seen yet; our sailors performed admirably considering their age and experience and are only getting better. This event featured moderate levels of breeze all weekend and a temperate ocean sea state for this time of year as we just missed a large storm front on both sides of the event. We saw significant northerly shifts from our westerly sea breeze for most of the event but there were some southern patterns that worked for you if you were attentive enough. Massive highlights to Shane Tillson and Sean Kaseburg for winning one of the races and placing 11th overall after minimal recent practicing. Congratulations to our sailors for performing well and improving their ocean skill sets. Most of our difficulties came from our lack of extensive ocean sailing experience: maintaining boatspeed and starting in the ocean are difficult things to adapt to! We plan to remedy that with our newly scheduled C420 Clinic at the end of the month, April 29-30th. Stay tuned!
