Perry 4 of 4 Regatta Write-Up

Regatta Report fro Final Perry Series at CYC

On the weekend of March 9th and 10th Coronado Yacht Club hosted the 4th and final Regatta in this year’s Perry series. Slowly building winds with unstable oscillations made for a competitive environment on the racecourse, combined with an intense and tough starting line, large upwind shifts, and extremely tight reaches, the sailors had a lot to overcome to work to the top. Team MBYC was represented by 3 boats, who worked well together in the various conditions.

Max Brill and Abe Dearden were absolute speed demons the entire weekend, with bullets in the toughest 2 races of any racing weekend, the last race of the day on Saturday and the first race on Sunday. They placed 4th overall on the weekend with 54 points. Jack McGraw and crew Mercedes McPhee had some excellent starts and exciting first weather beats, placing 11th in the weekend with 103 points. Sam Merson, sailing with crews Tanner Chapko and Tristian Thrush, had good spinnaker work and placed 18th with 176 points. A notable point of the day was watching Max and Sam round the top mark of race 5 in 1st and 2nd place!

The regatta also marks the end of the cumulative Perry series regatta, which Max and Abe placed 6th overall, with a cumulative 245 points over 29 races this season. Way to go!
