2017 Sabot II South

It is impossible to be more proud of the level that Team MBYC sailed at during this year’s Sabot II qualifier event! This event is sailed by all sabot sailors under age 12, and out of the 12 qualifying spots Team MBYC took 7! Using the skills they have been honing over the summer MBYC sailors led at most mark roundings, had great starting positions, unbeatable boatspeed, and great attitudes. Shane Tillson sailed an incredible regatta, with 4 bullets out of 6 races, and 6 points overall after a toss, to take the win. With 3 bullets, Jack Colyer hiked off his toes in the puffy conditions to take 2nd place with 11 points overall. Ben Conroy used great upwind lane management to secure a 4th place finish, just 1 point behind Jack with 12 points overall. With consistent finishes and more aggressive starting approaches, Sarah Ozaki tied for 5th place with 16 points and placed 6th overall. With a bullet in the 4th race, Owen Fretwell used good boatspeed to take 8th place overall. Kaden Miller found big wind shifts to leverage himself to a 10th place finish. Finding a new gear upwind, Kate Bossler had incredible boatspeed and sailed to a 12th place finish. Allie Shand sailed fast and had good boatspeed, placing 15th. Max Sipes had incredible starts on Sunday, placing 24th. Marcel Haldorson hiked hard to a 28th place finish. Colin Krebs and Jesse Adler sailed hard, finished every race, and put forth a great effort to finish 32nd and 36th, respectively.
